As we work to address congestion in the hallway, please read and follow these guidelines:
Bus students and drop off students are allowed to enter the school no earlier than 7:50 a.m. All students are asked to enter the gym where 2 staff members and 2 student safeties are on hand for daily supervision. The students are successful with this routine, and have been very cooperative and orderly when transitioning down the hall to classrooms at 8:00.
Some parents may choose to escort their child into the school. These parents may choose to drop their child off in the gymnasium at 7:50 a.m., and separate there. Another option would be to wait with your child on the tiled floor at the front entrance in front of the library until shortly after 8:00. We would recommend that you say your goodbyes and separate right there, allowing your child to join the crew of children walking from the gym to their class.
Children even as young as kindergarten benefit from the opportunity to learn self-help skills like finding their locker, taking off their own outer gear, hanging up backpacks, and getting out necessary items for class. Learning to do these things independently creates a sense of self-confidence. The young child thinks, “If I can do these things by myself, I can do lots of things!” Teachers are very willing to help your child to grow and develop this independence, so let us know if we can assist with making the separation easier. We often find that the child is ready to make this break long before the grown-ups! It’s a little thing that can make a big difference in your child’s success, and you’ll be sending the message “I trust you to take care of yourself and be a big kid!”
Of course, our pre-school friends will always need a grown up escort to and from the classroom, so if you see parents in the hallway before and after school, they likely belong to our pre-school kids. We encourage tag-along older brothers and sisters to follow the guidelines above by joining us in the gym before school. Pre-school parents with big kids may find it handy to park in the back, and drop their older children off in the gym first before heading down the hall to the pre-school rooms.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation in following these guidelines as we work to meet the goals of less congestion in the hallways, and building your child’s independence and self-confidence.

Parents, this is really important. Please remember that students are to be dropped off in the morning in the back of our building. The front parking lot is strictly for bus drop-offs. We have noticed an increase in the number of students being dropped off while buses are in our lot, and this is very unsafe for everyone involved. We all know the rules on this and we all want our students to be safe. If you are dropping your child off after 8:00 a.m. you may use the front lot.
Also, please do not park in the traffic circle. If you are walking your child into the building or need to meet with staff, please park your car in one of the spaces.
The Schools of Choice form for the 2015-2016 School Year is now available. Please read this over carefully, as there have been many changes. Forms are due by May 1, 2015. They will be sent home with students before spring break, or you may print one from our website.
