Camp Invention is coming to Oakview this summer! What is Camp Invention? Camp Invention is where BIG ideas become the next BIG thing! Local educators lead a week of hands-on activities created especially for elementary school children. Boys and girls spend time pushing the limits during high-energy games, working with teammates to construct a freestyle racing cart and taking apart electronics to assemble something one-of-a-kind. Lessons explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation. Don’t miss out on brand new challenges. For information, call 800.968.4332 or visit campinvention.org
Camp Invention will be held at Oakview August 10 - 14 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.The cost is $220. Register by March 20 to save $25. Sign up forms are available by clicking this link .

Fifth Grade Newspaper is Published!
Mrs. Harrant's 5th grade class has just published their February newspaper. They work so hard on this each month! You can read it here .
Parents, this is really important. Please remember that students are to be dropped off in the morning in the back of our building. The front parking lot is strictly for bus drop-offs. We have noticed an increase in the number of students being dropped off while buses are in our lot, and this is very unsafe for everyone involved. We all know the rules on this and we all want our students to be safe. If you are dropping your child off after 8:00 a.m. you may use the front lot.
Also, please do not park in the traffic circle. If you are walking your child into the building or need to meet with staff, please park your car in one of the spaces.
Do you have a child who will turn 5 by September 1, 2015? Do you live within the Oakview South boundaries? Kindergarten registration for the 2015-16 school year will be held at Oakview on Thursday, March 19 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Information will be going home soon!! Please see our web page (link on the right) for more information and necessary forms.
With the cold weather finally arriving, we wanted to remind parents of our guidelines for recess. If the air temperature and/or windchill are 0 degrees or above, we go outside for recess. We will frequently check the weather throughout the day - sometimes we make a last minute decision based on changing weather conditions to be inside. When students do go out, they are expected to be dressed for the conditions - meaning, they should have a hat, gloves, warm coat, boots and snow pants. We do keep a limited supply of hats and gloves in the office for students who may forget those.
For current weather conditions please click here .
