Dear Parents,

St. Johns Public Schools offers all day, everyday kindergarten. Children who will be 5 years old on or by September 1, 2022,  are eligible to attend school in the fall.  Students turning 5 after September 2, 2022, up until December 1, 2022, will have an opportunity to attend this program this fall with a signed waiver form.

Below is a Kindergarten Readiness Pamphlet for parents to review.  This will give you an idea of some of the expectations of your child in Kindergarten.

Hearing and Vision Screening
A hearing and vision screening is required by the Michigan Department of Education for entry into kindergarten.  Children can receive a screening through their doctor or through the Mid-Michigan District Health Department  (989-224-2195).   If your child attends a local preschool program then the Health Department likely conducted the screening there.

Please make sure that the documentation of the screening is submitted to our District Office by emailing it to enrollment@sjredwings.org

Your Child's Teacher and Kindergarten Orientation.

You will receive a letter from your child's teacher before school starts with more information about the school year.  There will be a Kindergarten Orientation and meet the teacher night, which will be scheduled a week before school starts.

This is always an exciting time for students and parents as they enter school.   We will do everything we can to make sure this transition goes as smoothly as possible.  Please continue to visit our web page for school updates and information.
